🐾 Meet Coco – Your Loyal Shadow and Adventure Buddy 🐾

If you're looking for a loving, energetic dog who wants to be involved in everything you do, Coco could be your girl!

Coco is a sweet, affectionate and slightly cheeky girl who forms strong bonds with her people. She loves being part of family life, whether that's heading out for an adventure, playing fetch or tug, or relaxing beside you on the couch. Once she's discovered the couch, she'll happily make herself comfortable right beside you!

At home, Coco is still very much a work in progress. She's clever and enthusiastic, but currently sees just about everything as a potential game or chew toy. She has a strong chewing instinct and can be destructive if left unsupervised, so she'll need plenty of appropriate, durable chew toys and someone willing to teach her good house manners. She can also become very excited and mouthy when playing or greeting people. This isn't aggression, but because she's a strong, enthusiastic dog, she can accidentally nip, so she's not suitable for young children. Older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact appropriately with an excitable dog may be fine. Coco is toilet trained, travels well in the car and knows sit, paw, lay down, come and drop.

Out and about, Coco is energetic with a capital E! A 6km walk followed by plenty of ball chasing at the beach barely registered with her, so an active lifestyle with plenty of exercise and enrichment is essential. She loves chasing a ball or frisbee, enjoys tug and would make a great companion for people who genuinely enjoy getting outdoors. She's strong on lead and can pull, while her recall is still a work in progress, so secure areas are best for off-lead exercise for now.

Coco's relationships with other dogs are an area where she'll need guidance and continued training. Her confidence has been growing, which is wonderful to see, but she's still learning how to read other dogs' body language and respond appropriately to their signals. During play, she can become too intense and, rather than backing off when another dog tells her they've had enough, she may escalate the interaction. As a result, Coco isn't currently suited to doggy daycare or off-lead play in large groups. She needs thoughtful management, carefully chosen dog interactions and a person prepared to work with her on developing better canine social skills. With consistent guidance, there is plenty of opportunity for her to learn, but this is something potential adopters must be prepared to work on. Her trainer has provided her foster carer with techniques to help identify and correct unwanted behaviour, and this training is now underway.

Coco can initially be cautious with unfamiliar people, particularly men, but given the opportunity to approach at her own pace, she quickly relaxes. She's generally confident around household noises, although she has strong opinions about the vacuum cleaner! She has also shown an unusual fear response to a person wearing a high-vis rain jacket, so unfamiliar clothing or equipment may need to be introduced gradually.

Coco is a clever, adaptable girl with plenty of potential, but she isn't the finished article. She'll need patient, consistent training, supervision and management while she learns appropriate house manners and develops better social skills with other dogs. In return, you'll have a loving, playful companion who genuinely enjoys being with her people.

Coco is being rehomed through no fault of her own due to her owner's unforeseen medical circumstances. This difficult decision has been made with Coco's best interests at heart, to ensure she can receive the time, exercise, training and attention she needs.

If you're an active household looking for a dog with personality, energy and plenty of potential—and you're realistic about the training and guidance she still needs—Coco could be a very rewarding companion.
